It won’t be a huge amount of money, but every little bit helps, right? Even if you save $20 a week, that’s $20 you didn’t have before. All in all, it works out perfectly! So stay tuned this week!!!

Coupon Clipping

Let’s face it, the economy sucks. So, I have come to a small, yet helpful decision. I have decided to join the masses and start clipping coupons. Think about it. You can save money and stock up on food. You never know what natural disaster may leave you without electricity. So why not use that food you saved money on by clipping coupons? Just don’t lose the can opener, I know I have- a couple of times, to be exact.  What can I say? It easy to lose stuff when you don’t remember where you put it. Perhaps a coupon organizer might be helpful…

couponsWhat changed my mind on coupon clipping? To be honest, it was the October issue of the Woman’s Day magazine. As I was finding the next article, I saw the insert of coupons. A light bulb went off in my head. I immediately thought “Coupons! How perfect!” It kind of spiraled from there. I believe I have a few “free” coupons laying around the house. What’s better than free? Oh wait… don’t answer that.

Since I have decided to start this new money-saving hobby, I thought I would share websites that contains legit coupons.
http://www.retailmenot.com/

http://www.redplum.com/

http://print.coupons.com/CouponWeb/Offers.aspx?pid=13306&zid=iq37&nid=10

These are legitimate sites. Believe me, I love researching. So, I spend a lot of time searching for the good ones!

Time to start saving~

Kitten Cuteness Overload

I believe that I have just created a new tongue twister. Anywho, I decided that it was time to introduce to you our new family members. Smokie, my sister’s cat, gave birth to 2 kittens about a month ago. I know, I should be punished for not mentioning it earlier or not posting pictures. So, without further ado (or is it adieu? I forget sometimes), here are the 2 kittens. They are both Siamese! We’ve decided to name them something so very simple: Brother and Sister. Of course, this is liable to change as they get older and run around the house, chasing the dog and biting on it’s tail!

Kittens2 004Here they are, half asleep. Of course, we have taken new pictures since the 13th, but they are still on the camera. I keep forgetting to transfer those! If I am correct, and sis, please feel free to correct me, Sister is on the left, and Brother is on the right.

They are getting very rambunctious. Often times, they will play so aggressively that one will yelp in pain and Mother Smokie will come to the rescue. She plays referee most of the time.

Kittens2 002As you can see, they are playing. They can’t run correctly just yet, but they are getting practice by “scampering” on the bed. Their personalities could not be anymore different. Brother is a big Mama’s Boy and loves to be held. He will become a lap kitty. Sister is the adventurer. She will climb any pillow mountain to get to the top.

They are eating a little bit of canned kitty food. They really prefer the sauce more than the food itself. What they don’t eat, Smokie and Princess will finish off.

Brother and Sister also wake up to every little sound. Here’s a scenario… okay, so it’s really not a scenario. It’s happened before. They were both sleeping on the bed while I was sitting in the living room playing with my dog. When I decided to go lay down for a bit, I looked to see if my sister had placed the kittens back in their bed or they were playing. Well, they were sleeping. As I walked into the bedroom, their little eyes popped open and you hear Brother meow. Oh great. I woke them up! But, they really do like to be around you and held.

I can only hope they give Zeus a run for his money.

Snack Holders/Containers

cupcakes

A few days ago, I was laying in bed watching the Food Network channel. The show “Unwrapped” with Marc Summers was on. Well, they were discussing back to school and snacks. The word “snacks” just sends your stomach into a grumbling mess. Believe me. On this particular episode, during one segment, they showed all different types of containers to hold snacks. I found this not only fascinating, but I was a (tad) bit jealous. I do believe that they did not have any of these snack containers when I was younger. So, I decided to do some searching (online) to see if I could find any of the ones I had seen on the television. So far, out of the 10 (okay, maybe 6) I saw, I’ve found 2.

Really, there is a point to this jumbled madness. If you have young’ins or you want your kids to be able to hold onto their snacks while eating or carrying, then snack holders are just for you! Some of these holders are very tough, so if they accidentally drop it, there’s no reason to get upset. They won’t get broken- unless dropped from a 4 story building, maybe.

51z539feApL._SL500_AA280_Meet Twinkie, The Kid. He is is a Twinkie holder. So, if your kids are  taking Twinkies to school as dessert or a snack, then place the Twinkies in here so it doesn’t get squished. I don’t know about you, but I absolutely hate eating squished Twinkies. Plus, you never know; it could get extremely messy and hard to clean up. You just don’t want to mess with a sticky backpack filled with Twinkies filling. (PS: That link is to the Amazon sellers page)

Also, who doesn’t like the Goldfish snacks? I know I certainly do! They also sell containers to hold those fishies inside. This would have been great for my sister’s last job. She worked at a church as basically, a babysitter. The kids would often have snack time, and most of those times, the snack would be Goldfish. So, they would either sit at a table or on the floor. There would be a huge mess to clean up afterward. So, if the church would have invested in some of these little guys, the babysitters (there were usually 2 working with my sister that day), wouldn’t be cleaning an hour later!
containerSo don’t be afraid to send your children to school with snack containers. Most of their peers might even think they are neat and will ask their own parents for one.

Let’s look at the benefits of snack containers:

  • They hold quite a bit of snacks inside
  • They do not break when you drop them- especially for the little ones’ hands.
  • They are neat looking. I want one!
  • They save you money. You no longer have to keep using sandwich baggies to hold those snacks.
  • After you have used them and the kids don’t want to use them to hold snacks, they can use it to hold anything else they want! It can be useful in 2 ways.
  • No messes to clean up in the backpack. The snack stays still even if your child isn’t.

If you want to grab some of these, head to your grocery store or search online. You’ll never know when one will pop up!

    WAT_AAH!_logo (2)

When it’s hot outside, I grab a bottle of cold water. Most of the time, the sit in the freezer since the bottom part of the fridge is too full. My family and I drink TONS of water. Every now and then we’ll grab some tea, but that’s rarely. Plus, there’s nothing like a bottle of cold water to lower your body temperature. I can go through about 5 bottles a day. It all depends on how thirsty I am.Plus, when you are doing errands, or your kids are outside playing, they need some water to stay hydrated (dehydration really stinks!). If you’re like me, you don’t really like the tap water, but if it’s the only thing to drink at the time, you don’t mind.

Wat-AhhSay “hello” (to my little friend), WAT-AHH! They are making drinking water healthier and much more fun. I was recently given the chance to review their water, and I am so thankful for that! When they arrived, they had been sitting in the sun for a bit, so of course, it was way too hot to drink at the moment. So into the freezer they went! I figured that they would get colder faster. Well, it’s true! It took no time for them to become tasty and drinkable. I’m pretty sure they were drinkable when I first opened the package, but hot water would have made me sick!

So, what exactly is WAT-AHH!? It’s water that isn’t boring! It does not contain any sugar or ingredients you have no idea how to say! They have 4 different “flavors.” They aren’t really flavors, but you’ll get the idea in a minute.

    Drink WAT-AHH “flavors”
Brain- Purified water and kid-friendly electrolytes
    Bones- Purified water and bone-bu
    ilding magnesium
Body- Pure spring water (that’s it!)
Energy- Ultra purified water and energizing oxygen

They are absolutely delicious! After they had finally become unfrozen, I decided to try the “Bones” first. Well, I had gotten so used to my tap water that it tasted weird at first. Then, after the first few sips, I was beginning to fall in love! My sister claimed it had an aftertaste, but I didn’t taste one. Then, through-out the evening, my sister and I tried the others. They were just as good as the first one!

WAT-AHH! can replace that Gatorade! It’s much more healthy and doesn’t include any sugar! Hooray for water! Oh, I’m sorry. It should be “Hooray for WAT-AHH!” There, I feel much better.

Thanks to the people at WAT-AHH!, you now have the ability to win! I will be giving 1 winner (that’s right, one winner) WAT-AAH! Backpack filled w/ fun back-to-school goodies (pencils, erasers, stickers etc…) along with some WAT-AHH samples! You have the ability to taste it out for yourself!WAT-AAH!GIVEAWAY

    GOOD LUCK!!

    Chaos

Yes I realize I haven’t updated in quite a bit. Well, to say the very least, things here at the home front have been quite hectic… chaotic, to be  honest. Some of it stressful, some of it worrisome, and some of it depressing. Boy, I love life, don’t you?

Thursday evening, we said goodbye to one of our most beloved pets. Patches, the cat, died Thursday evening. She is the daughter of Smokie, my sister’s cat. We are all very saddened by her sudden passing. The other 2 cats (Smokie and Princess) are still upset. They are mourning the loss of a daughter and a friend- as we all are. She is at that Rainbow Bridge. We love you!

    We’ll always love you!

So, let’s get pass the depression for a bit. I have a lot of things coming up in the next few weeks! We’ve got tons of reviews, giveaways, and hopefully, a bit of cooler weather here! Okay, a girl can dream! But honestly, I promise to update more often! Now that things have finally started to settle down, I can breathe and concentrate on my writing. It was a nice vacation, but it’s always great to come back to something you know and love.

By the way, it’s never a good idea to watch a pizza commercial when you are craving it like a madman (or rather, mandwoman.)

    BTS: School Supplies Online

    glue

Not everyone wants to go to Target or WalMart to buy their school supplies. Most buy them online nowadays. Heck, even I plan on buying online when I go into college! To be quite honest, there are many perks to buying school supplies online. Some of those perks are: you get to avoid the mass crowd, the long lines, and you get to save money! I’m pretty sure there are many others, they just don’t come to mind at the moment!

If you don’t know where to start on buying school supplies online, then don’t despair. There are so many supplies websites on the Internet that it can get confusing. You don’t know if they are reputable or not. You don’t know if they have what you want. Well, most supplies places do that what you want or need. As far as being reputable, here’s a tip: Stay with what you know. If you are more comfortable buying from Staples, then that’s perfectly okay. Or, if you prefer Office Depot, then you don’t have to worry. You know that both Staples and Office Depot are well known! Plus, I just looked, and their prices are fantastic! So, even though you may have one or both stores in your city, you can buy online without having to leave the house.

Most kids love having supplies that have some type of design. I know I did (minus the backpack). If there was a notebook that had a specific design but was cheap, I would ask my mom if we could get it. 9 times out of 10, I got it! What can I say? I’m a big girly-girl at heart! So, if you or your kids want something cute but affordable, then try CarolinaPad. Check out their collections. I am pretty sure you will find what you want! My sister had gotten the chance to review their products, and because she loved me (AWWWW!!!), she ended up giving me a notebook. I use it every other day. I absolutely love it! Now I just need to buy me a few more of their notebooks and I’ll be good to go until Spring!

    banner_back2school

Pencils can be quite cheap- if you know where to look. I love getting their catalog, and that is where I got this next idea. Oriental Trading has so many great deals- and you don’t just buy 2 or 3 of an item, most of the time, you get a gross (that’s 144 pieces)- but not always. Oh yeah, they’re super cheap, too! Also, if your kid is wanting something that makes a statement, then they have many designs of school supplies to choose from. We have ordered from Oriental Trading in the past (it was for Christmas candy canes that you stick in the ground), and we’ve never had a problem. They are great to work with, and you just might find something else to buy!!

So, get out that credit card or Paypal information, and let’s go online shopping!!

    Halloween In August?

    1

With Halloween 2 months away, there are already plans being made! My sister and I are planning everything ahead of time! We’ve also planned it, in detail, on paper. That’s right, paper. It’s quite detailed. We’ve put everything into categories, and then planned on where everything was going to be placed and what we, as the humans, were going to do. We made sure to cover everything!

Halloween just happens to be one of our many favorite holidays! We get giddy with the talk of fall, candy (YUM!!) and  haunted houses. In fact, we’ve already decided what we need to buy!  So, what are we planning? Well I can’t tell you everything! What I can tell you is that it involves a 63″ (I have no idea what that is in feet) Grim Reaper, strobe lights, a huge spiderweb and kitty litter. Okay, maybe that’s not everything it involves.  We may not get many trick-or-treaters, but, we hope that this year, our house will be the coolest on the street! I can only hope it won’t rain! Please, Mother Nature?

Oh I’m getting excited just thinking about it! This year, Halloween will be ours!
cat-halloween-clip-art_03We also know what our costumes are going to be! I’ll be dressing up as a witch. Although I would love to have an elaborate costume, it’s not going to happen. So, my sister has a skirt I can borrow. I would need to buy a cape and one of those bell-type shirts. Oh, and you can’t forget the hat. However, I know where to get one for cheap and it’ll still look good. Okay, add a wig to that, too! The rest will be done at home and made. I would love to tell you what my sister will be doing, but I have no idea how to explain her “costume”- if you want to call it that. You’re better off asking her!

Right now we’re in the process of trying to save up enough money to do all of this! Once we have gotten everything we need (UPS and the mailman are going to hate us by the time October 31 comes around!), we’ll be able to set up and assemble! Wahoo!
